Task 3: Type Design & Communication
"You will be tasked to design a limited number of western alphabets. To begin, choose an existing font design that
adheres to the direction that you would like to head in. Study the
font carefully by analysing its anatomical parts. Start with rough sketches, explore a variety of options and
upon approval begin digitization of the drawings—software for digitization Adobe Illustrator and later FontLab. Artworks shall
be printed out for critique sessions followed by refinements. If
time permits we shall generate the font for actual use. Watch the video before starting."
Research
First of all, I started to explore by observing other people's fonts. But
it turns out I couldn't get any ideas from their work, so I started to refer
to objects on either comic elements or fashion magazines.
I also refer to the resources given by Mr. Vinod, it also inspire me on
later's work.
Draft
Fig 1. Sketches.
All of the works is according to comic books and fashion magazines, for
example, number 3 refers to the explosion effects in comic books. My first
choice will be number 3 and 4.
I showed the draft to Mr. Max, he chose number 3 and asked me to work on
with it.
I drawed the draft on the graph paper too.
Digitisation
Fig 2. work digitalized.
Its kind of confused to me since once I combine the shape the zipzap texture of the work will become smooth.

Fontlab
After finalizing the final sketch, I started to upload my font to
fontlab.
I upload each of my work into fontlab, it was confused at first, but it
gets used to at the end.
