Process:

1.
Firstly, I sketched out each and every of the scene on Ipad.

2.

6.
Start with scene 3 & 7.

Final 3 & 7:

8.

Last sketch.

9.

Next I start with tracing.

I have two type of paper to trace on, color paper(body and big outlines) and butter paper(smaller objects like eyes and eye brows). I figured it out because color paper it too thick and I can't barely see the outlines.

Below are the failure trial:

The line is too thick and messy.

Below are the effects on butter paper:
It has smoother lines.

10.

Final papers:

Face

Eyes and Eyebrows

Boy back

Boy turned

Road background and props

Man and Woman smoking.

Reflection:

Experience:
This was my very first time working with stop-motion animation, and it turned out to be much harder, but also more fun than I expected. I based my idea on the Tarot card The Hierophant, its about the choice between traditional and non-traditional values. In my story, a girl stands at a crossroads. On one side, there's a quiet boy offering her a flower represents prue love; on the other, a noisy crowd offering her to smoke, and join them. After thinking, she chooses the boy, representing sincerity. Even though it was a simple setup, creating the whole scene frame by frame made me realize just how much effort goes into even a short piece of stop-motion animation.

Observations
One of the first problems I ran into was with the drawing process. I planned to sketch everything digitally and then trace over it for the final frames, but when I started, I found the lines got blurry and didn't look as clean as I expected. That really affected the animation quality, and I had to rethink my workflow. I also noticed how even tiny changes, like moving a character's arm slightly or adjusting the angle of the head, it made a big difference in how the scene felt. It taught me how important small details are in making the movement feel natural and expressive.

Findings
In the end, I realized stop-motion isn't just about moving things around, it's about telling a story with intention and care. I learned how visuals, timing, and even small gestures can carry emotion. The technical challenges lead me to be more patient and more precise. This project also gave me a deeper admire for traditional animation styles. Now I'm actually really excited to try it again with better planning and more refined techniques.
