Weekly Progress

Week 1: Course Introduction

This is the first week of the module. Mr. Martin gave us a detailed introduction to what the module is about, as well as an overview of the assignments and submissions we will need to complete later on. He also reminded us of the task due next week.

We also went through a general outline of the second exercise, and for the third exercise, it requires animation, Mr. Martin is concerned that students might not be familiar with Adobe After Effects, so we did a hands-on animation practise in class.

After that, he showed us examples of works created by the past students. We were then divided into groups to work on a short presentation, which help us to gain a better understanding of the types of infographics.

Exercise 1: Quantify & visualize data

In this exercise, I learnt how to sort, categrise and visualise different data items.

During the lesson, Mr. Martin asked everyone about their personal collections. Some classmates collect interesting rocks, some like gathering leaves. When he asked me, I told him I was kind of forced to collect coins, and I already collected few jars of it.

When doing this exercise, I took a random handful of coins form my jar to use as my research data. After that, I started to organise and classify all the coins clearly by their types, values and production years.
